Woman Defends Gothic Cat Piercing 
A woman from Pennsylvania who marketed “gothic kittens” with ear, neck and tail-piercings on the internet has defended her actions.
Holly Crawford was charged with animal cruelty after her home was raided following a tip off from animal rights group Peta.
“When I did it, it wasn’t with any cruel intentions,” she said. “They were definitely loved, well-fed, no fleas, clipped nails, and very happy.”
Police also charged a man who helped her take calls about the kittens, which were being sold online for hundreds of dollars.
The cats were given 14-gauge piercings through their ears, submission rings in their necks and one kitten’s tail was docked.
Ms Crawford said she did not see any difference between piercing a cat and piercing a human being.
She says she used sterile needles to pierce the animals and made sure they healed properly.
The vice-president of Peta, Daphna Nachminovitch, described Ms Crawford’s actions as ‘barbaric’.
“There’s no excuse for inflicting such pain on an animal that’s the size of your palm,” she said.
Ms Crawford says her dog grooming business is now in serious trouble and she has received dozens of abusive phone calls.
“My name’s ruined, my reputation’s ruined and my business is ruined,” she said.

I understand the peircings being bad, but the included the tail docking. Many dogs and cats have thier tails cut. No so common in cats but in many dog breeds. Is this considered cruel?

@Eric, I personally think that, cutting cat’s tail is a cruel thing to do. Since cat’s tail is needed for as a counterbalance to the body during quick movements. I pretty sure, if someone love cat without tail, they can do for manx breed and japanese bobtail breed.

I believe its completely fine. Dogs get tattoos. Its freaking the same thing as a person. It’s completely fine if you can go out to kill deer and what not for food or clothes or whatever they use that for. But, you cant pierce a cat???…don’t ya think its better than killing it? they feel less pain then humans i think they’re fine. plus look at the cute little thing!! It don’t hurt them that much hurts us way more.. Dogs get their friggen tails cut to.. and who’s to say??..maybe when she got the cat it already didn’t have a tail?? Also wouldn’t you rather the little kittlys to be healed properly than someone getting it and getting them all infected?.. i think its a good idea personally !!

@Tyler, i know people will clip feral or stray cat ear when they has been neutered/spayed. i didn’t know about this technique of telling that feral cat is spay. one point, i thought that is much more cruel. leaving a cat with weird ears. but then, it turn to be that’s the best way to address neuter feral cats.

@Tyler, why exactly do you think that animals don’t feel pain the same way humans do? Where do you get that information? Are you kidding me? And why do you say dogs get tattoos? Like they go to a tattoo shop and say, “I’ll take the confederate flag on my ass please?” Animals feel pain EXACTLY as we do. Piercing, docking, tattooing animals? It’s all barbaric. Get an education and a clue.

I dont see anything wrong with it..we pierce bulls and pigs noses..cut off dogs tails and clip thier ears..clip birds wings..the only people pissed off are tree hugging..tofu eating..animal activists…who have nothing better to to but complain..Peta ..ha dont see them talking about all the trees they kill to make protest signs…or how many animals had to die for them to get the blood to throw on things…or how many gallons of fuel it takes for their tankers to run..Everyone says its fine to spade or neuter stray cats and dogs…well hell all you activist why stop there lets spade or nueter homeless people next….and if all the activist had to grow thier own food without modern equipment that burns fossil fuels…they a have to use horses or cows to pull the plow and ooooooh no thants wrong according to them…even the “ORGANIC” food is grown 1 way or another…give them 2 weeks with no vegatables and they would be clubbing baby seals..

God its hard to Believe that people are as stupid as the last two who have posted, not to mention the cold bitch that thinks its ok to make money off animal cruelty, but the world is full of heartless freaks like these. The bottom line is that cats or other animals cant give their consent to peircings or tail dockings so its inhumane simple as that, spaying and neutering is nessasary in order to control overpopulation in strays and in return stops the suffering and neglect that unwanted and abandoned kittens face so the end justifies the means. Pen you are a first class moron id like to meet you and give you a good clubbing…fucking idiot

I agree that it is fine to do a cute one ear little rhinestone or something that doesnt weigh ears down. Their ears should be up so they can hear and feel. A small one will be fine but the goth lady over did the sizes of earings. I havent seen pics of the neck thing. I wont comment on that part. The tail thing is not needed. Cats use tails for balance etc. Its best to probly not mess with that and can cause the tail to die all the way up in some cases and may harm them. I know because my cat lost part of her tail after an injury and it keeps getting stiff and breaking off more all the time. Its painful for her and stiff into her body. She may have to be put down as her back end is losing haircolor like the tail has. Can be bad. Just dont screw with the tail, please. I think a simple earring thats a small cute stud like a baby would get, would be cute and harmless.
Be discreet on how far you go with all this, thats really it.
