ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Niagara humane society investigators are looking into a third gruesome case of animal abuse in a little over a week.
A young cat died Wednesday after being dragged for several kilometres behind a car in Niagara-on-the-Lake by an unsuspecting driver.
Investigators believe the driver had no idea that someone else had tied the cat to the rear of the car.
In Niagara Falls, humane society officers are investigating the case of a dog that was thrown from an overpass on Canada Day.
The dog survived with remarkably few injuries.
The previous week, a three-month-old kitten was thrown off a fifth-storey balcony of an apartment in St. Catharines and then deliberately run over with a car.
A 31-year-old St. Catharines man faces several charges in that incident.
